Jessica Bruhn

Jessica leads the MicroED structure determination group at NIS. She is a methods-focused structural chemist/biologist with a background in protein crystallography, single-particle cryo-EM and small molecule MicroED/3DED. She earned her PhD from Scripps Research in 2016 and completed a postdoc at the Salk Institute. Jessica joined NIS in 2019 and has spearheaded the development of our MicroED service offerings. Jessica secured a $1.4M SBIR grant in 2021 to fund this MicroED development work and has been an active member of the electron diffraction community, serving as a consultant for the IUCr Commission on Electron Crystallography since 2021. Jessica has given eight talks about MicroED at various meetings (5 as an invited speaker), participated as an instructor at two MicroED workshops and published four MicroED research articles.
