Director of Information Technology (IT)

The Director ofInformation Technology (IT) is responsible for evaluating, building, securing, and managing information technology infrastructure, operations, and staff according to the company’s established goals and objectives.  TheDirector of IT continually analyzes the technological requirements of the company’s business and scientific systems, and collaboratively contributes to establishing the strategies and policies necessary to meet those requirements while also ensuring efficient and effective technical support service.

Operations

●      Oversees all IT operations and evaluates them according to established goals

●      Oversees security of systems, networks, and enterprise information

●      Helps leads development and implementation of required IT systems to facilitate high productivity in each area of the business

●      Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss

●      Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure

●      Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, functionality and efficiency, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, configuration changes and other metrics as needed

●      Facilitates audits and investigations of IT systems and procedures

●      Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers for efficient and cost effective equipment, software, and contract purchases

●     Conducts root cause analysis to determine the origin of issues, unexpected outcomes or unusual results

●     Participates in cross functional teams, committees or additional projects or research as needed

●     Provides after-hours support for IT emergencies as well as occasional maintenance on weekends or holidays

●     As required, update and educate Board of Directors and executive leadership on current cyber threats, issues, and risks

●      Performs other related duties as assigned

Leadership & Supervision

●     Manages and mentors other members of the Information Technology team

●      Hires and trains IT staff

●      Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of the IT team

●     Helps build team unity and morale

●     Organizes workloads and helps establish work standards to ensure effectiveness and efficiency

●     Participates in leadership meetings and training sessions

●     Acts as a resource person for all areas of responsibility

 

Service Excellence & Teamwork

●       Champions service excellence at their site and throughout the organization

●       Ensures processes and workflows benefit both internal and external customers

●       Fosters the environment of continuous improvement in the department and throughout the organization

●       Builds strong working relationships at all levels of the organization

●       Meets with the Senior Director of Research and Development and other leaders on a regular schedule to discuss issues, concerns, planning and objectives

●       Participates on committees and/or task forces as assigned

●     Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical fields; advanced degree would be considered a plus

●     Eight or more years designing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting hardware, software and network computing systems

●     Five or more years direct supervision of IT staff and technology projects

●     Three or more years designing and implementing security policies

●     Broad, high level knowledge and understanding of current computing technologies and their practical applications in a scientific testing environment

●     Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to structure and interpret data to drive decision-making

●     Fluency in SHELL, BASH scripting required

●     Fluency in Python,PHP and SQL would be considered a plus

●     Willingness to learn quickly and adapt to changes

●     Self-motivated and ability to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

●     CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+), MCTS, MCITP, and/or MCDST certification would be considered a plus

●     Successful implementation of cyber security programs, frameworks, architectures, and operations would be considered a plus

●     Success establishing Identity Management architectures, technologies, and operations would be considered a plus

●     Experience with FDA audits and cGMP operations would be considered a plus

●     Excellent attention to detail, and verbal and written communication skills

●     Excellent analytical, organizational, and management skills
